Back in March, Leighton Gillespie (Project Manager - Auckland Council) presented on the Māngere Flood Resilience projects and advised of the Walmsley Road closure and traffic diversions.
From 4 October 2025, Walmsley Road (between McKenzie Road and Hall Avenue) will be closed to all vehicles.
We kindly ask for the information attached to be circulated to parents and guardians of students to keep them informed of any disruptions.

Kua tae atu tātou ki te wiki whakamutunga o te kura mō tēnei wahanga, ā, he nui tonu ngā kaupapa whakamīharo kei mua i a tātou hei whakanui i a Te Wiki o te Reo Māori – Toitū te Reo! Hei whakakapi i te wahanga nei, ka whakarite a Whaea Lucy i tētahi hākari hei whakanui i ngā mahi whakamīharo a te katoa i tēnei wahanga.
We’ve reached the final week of kura for this term and we’ve got some exciting kaupapa to look forward to as we also celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori – Toitū te Reo! To end the term with a bang, Whāea Lucy will be putting on a hākari to celebrate everyone’s awesome mahi this term.
✨ Whare Wars Wearable Arts Showcase
This will take place on Wednesday 17th September, 2025. Our tamariki have worked so hard creating their masterpieces inspired by Ngā Manu ā Tāne – we can’t wait to celebrate their creativity with you all. Please see the attached wātaka for our event.
???? Whare Wars Talent Quest
To add to the excitement, we’ll also be holding our Talent Quest on the same day as our Wearable Art Showcase Day, Wednesday 17th September, 2025 - It’s going to be a full day of celebrating the incredible talents and creativity of our tamariki – kei te hīkaka mātou! And Yes! There will be prizes for our Talent Quest.
???? Mufti Day – Te Wiki o te Reo Māori
To celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, our theme this Friday is: Toitū te Reo! We encourage all tamariki to wear the colours of the Tino Rangatiratanga flag – red, black, and white to show their pride in our reo.
????️ Kaitahi
Also on Friday, the kura will be putting on a hakari. This is our way of celebrating the awesome efforts of our tamariki and staff, and to end Term 3 with a bang as we celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori together. Please only send your child with playlunch/paramanawa only.
????️ Ngā Manu Kōrero
This week we are proud to announce that Korus Tawha will be representing our kura at the Ngā Manu Kōrero Competition in Whanganui.
